Heaven from Hell, blue skies from pain.
Can you tell a green field, from a cold steel rail?
A smile from a veil? Do you think you can tell?
And did they get you trade your heroes for ghosts?
Hot ashes for trees? Hot air for a cold breeze?
Cold comfort for change? And did you exchange
a walk on part in the war for a lead role in a cage?

Yesterday I went outside
With my momma’s mason jar
Caught a lovely butterfly
When I woke up today
Looked in on my fairy pet
She had withered all away
No more sighing in her breast
Smell you on my hand for days
I can’t wash away your scent
I’m a dog then you’re a bitch

Maybe I can live with that
